30 Minutes From Home

In March 2020 social distancing measures brought in as a response to covid changed the way most of us live our lives. As people began to stay in doors the outside spaces once occupied transformed. In my home town of North Berwick the disappearance of the daily throng of visitors brought with it a new landscape and a new energy. Without that human presence those same spaces now felt more intimate, more personal but they also felt hauntingly sombre. It was an atmosphere I wanted desperately to capture in photographs. However with government guidelines setting outside exercise to only one hour per day opportunity was limited. I could carry just a camera with me and only shoot that which I could find within 30 minutes from home. This is a gallery of the photographs I captured in the first two months of lockdown.

Images shot on Lumix GX80. Film images shot on Nikon EM & Holga using 35mm & 120 Ilford HP5 400.

Limited edition handmade concertina fold zine now sold out.
